"Since Smokie does not have many opportunities to herd, other than when the neighbors' cows get out and get on our place, he has had to develop a career as a hunting dog (in addition to just being a companion).
You will remember that last year, as a puppy, he got very good at retrieving doves. This year he has moved on to duck hunting, and he is doing well at it.
